Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 23, 2026

Our commitment to your privacy

MyPALway is built on a simple promise: your story stays yours. We collect the minimum information needed to guide you to resources and next steps, and we never sell your personal data. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address — used to create your account, verify your identity, and send service-related communications.
  • Password — stored securely and never displayed to anyone, including our team.
  • Optional profile details — such as ZIP code, household size, and employment status, which help us tailor resource recommendations. These are optional and you can skip any question you prefer not to answer.

When you use the app, we also collect journey and progress data — the life areas you're working on, steps you've completed, and reflections you choose to share. This is used to personalize your experience and remember where you left off.

What we do not collect

  • We do not store verbatim copies of your free-text intake responses. Your words are analyzed to recommend pathways, then paraphrased summaries replace the original text.
  • We do not collect sensitive financial details like income documentation, Social Security numbers, or bank account information.
  • We do not track your location continuously — ZIP code is captured only when you enter it for resource matching.

How we use your information

  • To recommend local resources and personalized next steps based on your situation.
  • To remember your progress so you can resume where you left off.
  • To send service-related emails (account verification, password resets, and support responses).
  • To improve the quality and accuracy of our resource directory and recommendations.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — We use trusted infrastructure providers (hosting, database, email delivery) that process data on our behalf under strict contractual obligations.
  • Legal requirements — If required by law, court order, or to protect someone's safety, we may disclose information to the appropriate authorities.

Data security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted password storage, secure data transmission (HTTPS), and role-based access controls. Only you can see your journey data; administrators can view aggregate records for quality assurance but cannot access your personal reflections without authorization.

Your rights and choices

  • Access and review — You can view your profile and journey data anytime within the app.
  • Delete your account — You can delete your account and associated data from within the app. This action is irreversible.
  • Opt out of optional fields — You can skip any profile question and still use the core resource-finding features.
  • Withdraw consent — You can stop using the app and request data deletion at any time by contacting us.

Children's privacy

MyPALway is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll provide a notice in the app or via email.
